Dearest Mother,

Just a few lines to let you know that I'm feeling fine and hoping that you are the same.

Mother, I've already went through one wk. of basic training and so far it seemed like a lot of fun. These last few days we've been marching with our packs on. When we would get to our drilling field, we would pitch our tent and then start exercising and go through the obstacle course.

Gee mother, the weather out here is really funny. Thur. and Fri. we had most of our classes inside of buildings on account of how cold it was, and now today, (Sun.) it's real nice and warm, so when it does get cold it is really cold.

Well mother, I guess this is all for now, so I close with lots of love to you, daddy and the kids.

    Your loving Son,

"Jimmy"
