Dearest Mother,

I received your letter tonight and was very glad to hear from you.

The reason I'm writing a card is because I don't have time to write a letter. We have to fall out at 7 oclock for some more drill. We have our big test tomorrow, and tonight we're going to get a workout.

So Tony and Phil have been home on a furlough, well mother I'm really glad they came home, because I know that it made you very happy.

I won't be home for a good while, but until I do come home, mom, please don't worry about me because I'm O.K. Well good bye mother dear till later.

   Your loving son

"Jim"
