Dearest Mother,

I received your letter and was very glad to hear from you, and to know that every one at home is fine. This is the first chance I got to ans. your letter mom, we went on another hike last night it was only 4 mi. but in the afternoon we went on a 6 mi hike with full field pack and gear. I think I minded the weight of the gear more than the pack. When we came back from our hike last night we went down to the kitchen and got a cup of coffee and two donuts, came back to our barracks and went to bed.

Mom, I went into town Sun. I only went in for a half a day 11:30 in the morning till 5:30 in the afternoon. I visited your friend's place. Her and her husband were both home. I went into town with two other guys, we three went to her house. We talked mostly about the camp and about the time she was at our house. Her husband's co. isn't very far from mine. He's a cook in Co. I. 343.

Well mother I guess this is all for now, so I'll close till later with lots of love to you mother dear, daddy and the kids. Tell Tommy I'll ans. his letter as soon as I get time.

    Your loving Son,

"Jimmy"
